Working in the studio

 My camera is an essential piece of equipment which I use to keep a visual diary, reminding me of the ideas and images that have stirred my interest when out walking, and from which I make initial sketches before going on to make a piece of work. I rarely work directly from the photos as I am more interested in capturing an essence of the subject rather than the actuality, but I do like to use it as a compositional aid and cropping tool.
